Towards Liberation lays out the differences between a culture of liberation and a culture of dominance and provides concrete suggestions that help us both notice and shift our default approaches.   Many of the ways of the culture of dominance are deeply ingrained into us and even though the culture of dominance as a worldview has led to oppression and climate catastrophe, this guide presents us with a pathway that’s not all or nothing–that we can combine aspects of the culture of liberation and culture of domination to create a more liberatory world.

In my work with youth-serving organizations, understanding the characteristics of the cultures of liberation and dominance is crucial to developing more equitable programs, programs that release us from our dominance culture and build collective liberation.  

The guide incorporates Indigenous wisdom and an embodied approach to that noticing, as well as a guide on how to commit to change.  Towards Liberation doesn’t shame, blame, or insist on a binary right or wrong perspective.
