FOSTERING RESILIENCE: OUR LEARNINGS AND NEXT STEPS

The Colibri Collaborative and Peacock Partnerships recently joined forces to support leaders by developing a framework for Fostering Resilience: Adaptation for Liberation. We hosted two cafe conversations for leaders to reflect on how they’ve been occupying their time and to discuss the essential question: How can we respond and lead with resilience and adaptability?

Leaders completed, analyzed and discussed this graphic organizer. This tool is yours to use.

Here are a few important lessons that we learned from feedback on the blog and the cafe conversations:

  • Because how we occupy our time is shifting, it is valuable for us to ongoingly reflect on our calendar and ground our schedule in what’s most important and on what’s promoting resilience.

  • Many people are interested in talking about healing and how trauma plays out during this pandemic, not just in their organizations, but in their lives. We can not deny that the trauma from this pandemic is compounded by existing structures of inequality.

  • There is a need for individuals and teams to face their trauma and heal through creating authentic and vulnerable spaces. It is easy for many of us to slip back into our old habits once we have become inured to pandemic-living, “sucking it up and getting things done.” But this has never worked for us, and it will definitely not work for us now. Being our whole authentic selves and providing a space for others to do this is essential.

We know that many of us are tight for time and having screen-free time and time to be with ourselves is important.  We hope that the graphic organizer helps you make commitments for you and your teams.

P.S. In the next month we will be sharing more about our next workshop in the Fostering Resilience Series. So far there is overwhelming demand for a conversation about "Redefining what's essential for you and your team”.
